Tree Planting Work Day
Will it rain or will it not? That was the question leading up to March 16. We had a tree planting work day planned and it looked like we may be rained out.
Thankfully we had a good turn out of volunteers willing to brave the rain, truck loads of trees to plant, a nice breeze to keep mosquitoes away, and the perfect temperature to keep us comfortable as we worked.
We planted approximately 130 young trees that morning. I must say that the best part was being with those who appreciate nature and want to work together to make a difference. A big thank you to Joan Ward and David and Jan Hanson who start trees and other plants for use to enhance habitat for wildlife on Anahuac Refuge.
When you see a young tree on the refuge with a flag on it, thank a volunteer. Join us at our next Refuge work day, you will have fun, and you will meet terrific people.
See you on the Refuge!!!
