FRIENDS OF ANAHUAC REFUGE
The Winnie Rice Fesitval is an annual festival that takes place in Winnie, TX each October. The event is around the time rice is harvested in and around Chambers County. FOAR hosts a table in the education tent to speak with the public about the refuge and organization.
Look for more announcements about the event and a call for volunteers closer to the event date.
Monthly board meetings typically take place on the second Tuesday of the month at the Texas Chenier Plain Refuge Complex building north of Anahuac on FM 563.
Visitors are welcome, but please send a email or call to make arrangements.
FAMILY FISHING DAY

FOAR and Anahuac NWR are hosting the annual Family Fishing Day on the refuge. Bring the family out for fishing, crabbing, crafts, games, and prizes. Refuge staff and volunteers will be on hand to help folks new to fishing and answer questions about it and the refuge. The event is FREE and open to the public.
NO FISHING LICENSE REQUIRED FOR EVENT ATTENDEES ONLY!
Check out our Fishing Day event page for more details.
The Friends sponsor the event by providing additional volunteers for activity booths, prizes, and providing snacks and drinks for sale. If you are interested in volunteering at the event, contact refuge Volunteer Coordinator Stephanie Martinez.
